Six Rare 18th Century Books on "Anecdotes of Painting in England"

A rare set of six 18th century books in four volumes with supplement and catalog titled ‘Anecdotes of Painting in England’ by Horace Walpole, printed by Thomas Farmer at Strawberry Hill 1762, 1762, 1763, 1771 (4 volumes). ‘A Catalogue of Engravers’, printed 1763, and a ‘Supplement to the Hon. Horace Walpole’s Anecdotes of Painters and Engravers’ printed in 1792 are included. These books are bound in calf and morocco with fine Georgian design, gilt labels and decorations. Marbled endpapers with laid paper. Many gravure prints are included with the supplement having many on orange paper. Volume 1 has monogrammed bookplate.
Condition
Boards have wear to edges and bindings. Vol. 1 and 4 have partially detached front boards. Pages in remarkably good condition with some foxing consistent with age and some volumes having minor warping.
