1758 Book Titled "The Natural History of Iceland"

Item Details

A 1758 book titled ‘The Natural History of Iceland’, published in London. The book is bound in Morocco leather, printed on laid paid and includes a pull-out engraving of a map of Iceland. A nameplate is affixed with the Melville family crest. As noted on the title page, the book contains ‘A particular and accurate Account of the different Soils, burning Mountains, Minerals, Vegetables, Metals, Stones, Beafts, Birds, and Fifhes; together with the Difpofition, Cuftoms, and Manner of Living of the Inhabitants. Interfperfed with an Account of the Ifland, by Mr. Anderson, later Burgo-mafter of Hamburgh’ (sic). The book also contains a meteorological table with remarks.

Condition

Exterior in poor condition with front board separated. The interior pages are mostly clean and in good condition with light occasional foxing.
