Eastlake Library Table, Circa 1870-75
Item Details
A very fine handmade Eastlake library table, circa 1870-75. This beautiful walnut table has leather overlay to top, burled veneers, chip carving and hand-cut scalloped wood trim to skirt, drawer with burled veneer face, and base with tray shelf with hand-cut scalloped wood trim. The legs and base have extensive chip carving, rounded corners, and porcelain casters. Hand-cut dovetails at the drawer and expertly hand-cut wood trim indicate this was not a mass-produced factory piece but, rather, an authentic early Eastlake table, handmade by a true craftsman.
Condition
Good overall; finish appears to be original. There is a large ink stain to one inside corner of the drawer, and minor scuffs and wear consistent with age and use; leather top is a bit wavy and may not be original to piece.
