A vintage hand-knotted Persian Malayer Sarouk rug. This wool pile rug features a lozenge-shaped center field with a medallion, two pendants, and floral and vine patterns against a red background. To each corner of the field is a pale blue spandrel. There are two minor borders – the first displaying a leaf and calyx pattern, and the second a seraband design – to either side of a primary border with a floral and vine pattern. Overall, the rug utilizes a color palette of red, pale orange, blue, pale blue, bluish green, tan, brown, and white. This rug has been finished with natural warp fringe, and it is unmarked.
