An early twentieth century Steinway & Sons Model M baby grand piano, circa 1919. The case of the baby grand piano features a light-medium walnut finish and Steinway’s tubular metallic action frame sound board. The original model was produced for musicians with intimate performance spaces and featured ivory keys. The ivory key caps were removed and replaced with contemporary piano key caps in October 2018. This piano has brass hardware and pedals and is marked with serial number 196378 to the underside of the removable music rack, dating production between 1919 and 1920. The sound board is marked ‘3/GK 2339’ in addition to the patent information.

Condition

- to Fair, scratches to the legs, front, and lid with some missing veneer beneath the keys and scuffing to finish at curved arms flanking the keyboard.
- untested for full functionality, however all keys produce sound.
- piano is not guaranteed for precise tuning.
- original ivory keys were replaced October 2018.
- scratching and scuffing to finish around the spade feet and casters.
- consignor states the piano was professionally refurbished in the 1960s.
