Mid-19th Century Walnut Dresser with Marble Top and Mirror

Item Details

A mid-19th century Renaissance Revival walnut dresser, with ornately framed mirror and step down marble top. The mirror frame is beautifully detailed, with crown mold pediment and carved classical Greek key design to top, scrolled forms to sides, raised panels with burled veneers and bullets, and lovely candle brackets. The base features four glove and accessory drawers and two large clothing drawers, each with original walnut knobs, raised panel fronts with burled veneers, and a recessed top to center that allows for a generous and useful mirror that provides a three quarter height view. The marble tops are white with light grey flecks and veins. Both construction details and style indicate the dresser was likely made between 1850-60, during the transition from Greek Revival to Renaissance Revival styles. With hand-cut dovetails, square nail reinforcing, and most secondary wood panels of walnut, this is both a beautiful and exceptionally well made piece.

Condition

Good to very good for age; some scratches and wear to sides, and some minor staining to interior of drawers. One small piece of base trim is slightly loose.
