Finely Hand-Knotted Turkish Hereke Silk Rug
Item Details
A finely hand-knotted Turkish Hereke silk rug. This rug is intricately designed and rendered in an abrash palette of earth tones, with added hues of blue, pink, and teal. The light brown field begins with a layered star medallion enclosed by floral motifs and dark brown grounded spandrels. A niche paneled border patterned with ornate palmette, floral, foliate, and boteh motifs also help enclose the field, as well as floral designed elem panels, all within a floral meander guard border over light green. The main border has a tan ground with colorful star medallions and cartouche forms infilled with an array of floral motifs. Finishing this rug are multiple overcast selvedges and a long silk warp fringe to the ends. It is unlabeled.
