A vintage hand-knotted Persian Ardekan Kashan room sized rug. This wool pile carpet in woven in hues of deep red, green, pink, brown, orange, blue, and ivory. It is centered with a lobed medallion comprised of floral motifs and flanked by palmette pendants. The lozenge field is densely populated with arabesqued vines, oak leaves, flower heads, and palmettes, and extends to ornate corner spandrels. Framing the field are reciprocal, floral, and geometric guard borders, while the primary border displays a palmette grounded pattern over dark brown. The rug is finished with overcast selvedges and wool warp fringe. It is unlabeled.
