Renowned American illustrator Edmund Franklin Ward studied at the Art Students League with Norman Rockwell and later shared a studio with him in Manhattan. He created illustrations for The Saturday Evening Post including portrayals of the Alexander Botts and Assistant District Attorney Doowinkle stories. Ward was also a member of multiple artist associations such as The Society of Illustrators, the Salmagundi Club, and the Guild of Free Lance Artists.
