Federal Cherrywood, Maple, and Mahogany Tall Case Clock by Riley Whiting

Early 19th century. The hand-painted, wooden dial is marked ‘R. Whiting / Winchester’ while the scrolled terminals of the broken-arch cornice are inlaid ‘B’ and ‘H’.
The works and case are possibly associated.

Condition
- to fair; overall with various scratches, dents, marks, chips, cracks, and abrasions consistent with age and use; structurally stable; the works and case are possibly associated; movement not tested and not guaranteed to be complete but it was rebuilt in 1997 (possibly with some newer components) and it comes with a repair receipt from Martines’ Antiques of Chagrin Falls, Ohio; finials with some tarnishing, dents, and bends; repaired break to left terminal of scrolled cornice and to left stile below finial; waist door with a replaced knob and latch; case interior missing some glue blocks; small molding repair to top, left corner of box-form base; other possible repairs/restorations.
