Painter, draftsman, and illustrator Eugène Leliepvre specialized in military, equestrian, and feminine subjects. He was appointed as the Official Painter for the French Army in 1951, and awarded the Legion of Honour in 1998. The artist also created dioramas for the Paris Navy Museum and is particularly celebrated for his depictions of 18th-century military scenes.
