1940 Kataro Shirayamadani Rookwood Pottery Vellum Vase
Item Details
A 1940 Rookwood Pottery vase by Kataro Shirayamadani (Shirayamadani Kitarō 白山谷 喜太郎; 1865–1948). The vase is urn shaped with a small raised neck, rounded shoulder and flush base. The piece is a pale mauve matte glaze decorated with yellow tulips and green leaves. It is marked with the Rookwood flame double R logo pressed to underside of base and Roman numerals XL (1940). The vase is signed by Kataro Shirayamadani with the artist’s monogram to the underside.
