- to fair; overall with various scratches, dents, marks, chips, and abrasions consistent with age and use; structurally stable; interior retains remnants of an old, if not original, blue paper lining; paper lining is brittle and with tears/losses and stains; latch on underside of lid possibly associated; exterior silk lining is possibly later and with fading and tears/losses, revealing stuffing underneath; some tarnishing to brass elements and some lifting/losses to inlay; column with a few shrinkage cracks; some minor/former pest damage (worming) with associated marks.
