Original Bruce Mitchell Watercolor on Paper Painitng

An original watercolor on paper painting by well listed artist Bruce Mitchell (1908-1963). Mitchell served as an art war correspondent in WWII and also did illustrations, most frequently of jazz musicians, for Esquire Magazine. His paintings are in the collections of both The MET and The Whitney, he studied under Thomas Hart Benson, and was the recipient of the Tiffany, Gugenheim, and Yaddo fellowships. In this beautiful watercolor the artist has depicted a river valley at a barren end of wintertime. The painting is signed by the artist to the lower right-hand corner and dated 1933. The painting is housed in a mat with plastic covering to front.

Condition

Needs framing but otherwise in good shape.
