George III Mahogany Tall Case Clock, Robert Townsend, Greenock, Circa 1800

Item Details

The etched brass and silvered dial with a moon phase in the arched top as well as a date aperture at the six position. The clock comes with an old, if not original, pendulum, two weights, and a winding key.

- to fair; overall with various scratches, dents, marks, chips, and abrasions consistent with age and use; structurally stable; dial with some scuffs/marks; some tarnishing to brass/metal elements; upper backboard replaced (behind bonnet and waist); central finial bent; eagle ornament possibly associated; cornice probably had a finial at each corner (now missing); hinge mounts of bonnet door are somewhat loose and with a couple cracks; shrinkage cracks to front and sides of base; other possible repairs/restorations; comes with an old, if not original, pendulum, two weights, and a winding key.
