A late 20th century stenciled shui fen painting on paper titled Year In Year Out, Have Enough… Fish by Chinese Folk artist Pan Xiao Ling (潘晓玲, b. 1956). This painting depicts Koi fish swimming in unison through Lotus flowers sitting on dark water. The painting is signed to the lower right.
Pan Xiao Ling is a self-taught artist who began painting when she was sixteen years old. She is from the Huxian farming village in the middle of China. Pan Xiao Ling was influenced by village life and modern art. Her paintings have been in exhibitions in North America, Japan, and Singapore. She was the first Chinese folk artist accepted by the Chinese Postal Service for a series of officially issued postcards.
