A pair of Peruvian style Chancay burial dolls. These handmade folk art dolls are constructed with triangular heads wrapped in headbands, embroidered facial features, and posable string wrapped extremities. Each doll is adorned in vintage and antique handwoven textiles of various patterns and accompanied by an infant. The dolls are a reproduction of ancient Chanclay burial dolls, found at gravesites of the Peruvian elite of Mestizo cultures (Late Intermediate Period, 1000-1460 CE). Maker’s marks were not visible.
