Hand-Knotted Caucasian Shirvan Wool Rug
Item Details
A vintage hand-knotted Caucasian Shirvan wool rug. This rug is rendered in an abrash palette of blue, red, ivory, blue-green, and tan. The blue colored field features two lobed medallions infilled with a rectilinear form and branched elements, and muska motifs. Eight-pointed stars, rosettes, and mirrored hooked devices also help populate the field. Framing the field is a main unresolved ivory grounded compound border, along with meandering guard borders, and a running dog border as well. Finishing this rug are double overcast selvedges and a wool warp fringe to the ends. It is unlabeled.
