Item Details
A finely hand-knotted Persian Nain wool rug. This rug possibly has silk within the pile, and it is rendered in a palette of cream, light blue, gray, navy, red, brown, green, white, and golden tan. The lozenge shaped cream hued field begins with an ornate starburst pendant medallion over a gray ground, while enclosed by light blue spandrels. It features ornate scrolling vine-work of palmettes, flowers, and leaves throughout, as well as framing the ends of the lobed shaped lozenge. The main border is designed with a stylized herati pattern, and flanked by floral meander guard borders. Finishing this rug are overcast selvedges and a fine wool warp fringe to the ends.
