Hand-Knotted Persian Qashqai Area Rug

Item Details

A vintage, hand-knotted Persian Qashqai area rug. The wool rug features a thick pile and deep rich colors including indigo, dark cranberry, cream, orange, forest green and white. The design features an irregular rectilinear pattern with scattered tree forms on a cranberry ground within the central field. Medallions at the corners contain different symbols. The field is framed by a sawtooth guard border with a primary floral border on white ground. One end of the rug is extended beyond the outer guard border and contains two pairs of stylized flowers worked into the corners. The rug finishes with twisted warp fringe and red and green overcast selvedges.
