As an accomplished Italian artist, Guttuso was a painter, illustrator, costume designer, activist. Guttuso took part in the second exhibition of the ‘Corrente’ artistic movement in 1939. As a member of the collective, he was a avide anti-fascist and created expressive works in opposition to the cannon of art during the time. Today, a museum in Bagheria bears his name and works of his can be found in public collections internationally.
