Power-Loomed Karastan "Sarouk" Wool Area Rug

A power-loomed Persian style Sarouk area rug by Karastan. This wool pile rug is rendered in tones of red, medium to deep blue, green, khaki-gold, and ivory. It commences with an implied diamond medallioin comprised of intricate floral and foliate motifs. The field is densely populated clusters of floral bouquets, racemes, and arabesqued foliage and vines. Framing the field are floral meander guard and secondary borders, with a palmette based pattern comprising the primary border over deep blue. The rug is finished with serged selvedges and applied fringe to the ends. A maker’s label was not visible.

- soiling and debris throughout; heavy wear to fringe; areas of pilling.
