An ink drawing on paper by listed artist and political cartoonist Arthur Weindorf (American, 1885 – 1979), dated 1905. This illustration features various humorous Christmas scenes depicted as a satirical commentary against consumerism in our society. Considering its stylistic features and date of creation, this illustration was likely intended to appear in the Long Island Daily Star. The piece is signed and dated to the lower right ‘A. Weindorf, 1905’ to the lower right. An informational label is affixed to the lower right of protective acetate cover. The work is presented within an acetate protective cover and unframed.

Arthur Weindorf was best known a for his oeuvre as an illustrator and cartoonist. He acquired his formal education in Architecture and published his work in various architectural publications and also created various satirical illustrations for the newspaper Long Island Daily Star. Weindorf’s work has been exhibited in multiple institutions including the Library of Congress, the Washington DC Watercolor Society and the National Academy of Design.
