Vintage West German Beer Steins
Item Details
A pair of vintage ceramic beer steins from West Germany. Both steins feature hunting scenes with deer and boar, each bearing a handle with a sculpted fox. The steins are hand painted with a deep blues and greens for the sky and plants, with hues of brown and grey to the tree trunks and animals. A hunter’s greeting is written in German, ‘Waidmanns heil/Weidmann’s heil.’ The smaller stein was produced by Gerz, stamped to the underside. The taller stein bears ‘2028’ located near the handle, incised ‘C’ with a line through, and incised ‘Western Germany’ to the underside.
