A black lacquered wooden Carlton House writing desk. Raised and painted chinoiserie floral, bird, garden, and village scenes cover the U-shaped top, both to the curved outside and to the drawers and compartment doors of the inside and top sides. The designs carry around the apron and across the three aligned drawers in the apron.
