A 1910 Singer Model 27 sewing machine. This full-size lockstitch machine features a black metal housing with extensive gilt decoration featuring an Egyptian motif. It has a flat silver metallic faceplate finished with a grapevine design and long split side plates which run the depth of the bed. The Model 27 was the first Singer machine to use their ‘vibrating shuttle’ technology. It is marked to the bed on a plate with the serial number ‘G884973’ which dated the manufacture of the machine to 1910 at Singer’s St. John’s factory in Quebec.
