Ira Barnett Gilt Overlay Metal and Mother of Pearl Mountain Fountain Pen, 1913

An antique gilt metal overlay and mother of pearl mounted fountain pen, early 20th century, manufactured in New York by Ira Barnett. It has mother of pearl vertical panels flanked by gilt metal banding, and a 14K gold nib. The pen was noted for having a piston rod for self-filling. The cap has acanthus ormolu with a flag shaped medallion for engraving. Nib is marked ‘Ira Barnett/ 14 KT/ New York.’ Presented in a velvet wrapped box.
