A Swiss rosewood and ebonized marquetry 8 Air music box, No. 15138, circa 1880. This ornate music box has an exterior decorated with inlaid wood and fixed handles. The interior of the lid features a checkerboard wood inlay border and a label featuring a list of playable songs. Tambourine, bells and castanets play 8 airs of popular marches, polkas and waltzes from a 10.75’ long cylinder.

- surface scratches and scuffs; minor nicks to edges which are heaviest around base; areas of loss to wood veneer; two cracks to lid with slightly warped veneer; lid; key is not included; worked at time of testing; four areas loss to label from prior mounting; light writing in blue to upper right corner of label; lower right corner of label presents a surface abrasion to area over assumed printer’s mark.
