Hand-Knotted Persian Karaja Wool Rug

A hand-knotted Persian Karaja wool rug. This rug is rendered in a palette blue, red, teal, burgundy, yellow, cream, and black. The blue colored field features a central star medallion infilled with floral motifs, flanked by hooked hexagonal medallions. Rectilinear floral motifs, boteh, and other geometric symbols populate the field. Framing the field is a main floral meander border with a burgundy ground, along with a pair of carnation meander guard borders. Finishing this rug are overcast selvedges and a wool warp fringe to the ends. It is unlabeled.
