Artist Orlando Norie was known for his depictions of military subjects, particularly those of the British army in the 19th century. Based mainly in Dunkirk, he painted many watercolors for the firm of Rudolf Ackermann. Some significant events that he depicted include the Battle of Alma, the Battle of Inkerman, and the Battle of Balaclava. One of his watercolors featuring the Battle of Fuentes de Oñoro 5 May 1811 is in the permanent collection of the Royal Military College of Canada. His work has also been collected and exhibited by British regimental museums and clubs.
