Finely Hand-Knotted Indian Kashmir Wool and Silk Blend Rug in Goldani Style
Item Details
A finely hand-knotted Indian Kashmir rug in the Goldani style. This silk blend and wool pile rug is rendered in a palette of oxblood, cornflower, sage, olive, golden tan, cranberry, and ivory and commences with an intricate Goldani vasiform, issuing a spray of flowers beneath an arched mihrab complete with chandelier. The curvilinear field is populated with a wealth of palmettes, racemes, lancet leaves, and rosettes, and extends to golden tan spandrels infilled with birds and motifs complementary to the field. Framing the field are carnation meander and palmette grounded herati guard and secondary borders, while the primary border features a resolved floral and foliate motif over oxblood. The rug is finished with overcast selvedges, a brief kilim skirt, and silk warp fringe. It is unlabeled.
