Swedish Modern "Beplus" Birch and Steel Folding Chairs by Börge Lindau, 1987

A pair of Beplus folding chairs by Börge Lindau (Swedish, 1932-99) for Blå Station, circa 1987. They have bent birch backs curved into front legs, with black steel rod sleigh style back legs The perforated circular birch seats are painted black. A manufacturing tag remains affixed to the underside of one.
Lindau created the company Blå Station in 1986; in 1987 the Belpus design won Forsnäspriset, Excellent Swedish Design (now The Nordic Design Prize for Molded Wood Furniture).
