A signed Wihoa’s hand-painted jug by noted ceramic Rick Wisecarver. It has a large, irregular form and pulled handle, with a deep, high gloss brown glaze, featuring a hand-painted portrait of an American Plains Native American man. He is dressed with a war bonnet and necklaces, having details to the facial features and hair. It is signed ‘Rick Wisecarver’ to one side and incised to the base ‘1982 Wihoa’s R.S.’ Rick Wisecarver (Ohio; 1950-2002), was a masterful artist known for his paintings and art pottery featuring detailed portraits of Native Americans and scenes of Native American cultural life.
