Frank Jones was an African American naïve folk artist born in Clarksville, Texas. Jones was not formally educated and grew up in racially segregated America. Jones stated to had supernatural visions. He began making colored drawings in jail in Huntsville, Texas in the 1960s. His work is prominently non-objective, but also reflect the experiences of his life and spirituality. Many of works are signed with his prison number “114591”. Jones is a notable American Folk artist whose work can be found in Museum and private collections including the Smithsonian American Art Museum.
