An antique Chinese carved and painted wood sculpture of Guanyin (Avalokiteshvara), the Buddhist bodhisattva of compassion. It depicts a tall female figure with both hands together in the center of her chest. The piece is painted with vibrant painted pigments. The piece is presented on a rounded base. There are no apparent maker’s marks.
