A late 19th-century watercolor painting on paper titled Elégante au secrétaire by Edouard-Jean-Conrad Hamman (1819 – 1888). This work features an elite woman wearing an elegant blue gown in a posh interior space. Signed “Ed. Hamman” to the lower right, the work is presented under glass with decorative matting, and housed in a gilt gesso and wood frame. To the verso is an inscription providing the artist and medium of the work, as well as a French inscription providing information about the artist. A slightly larger oil painting version of this work also exists.

Condition

- some wear in frame includes small chips, stains, scratches, and finish loss scattered throughout.
