A hand-knotted Northwest Persian tribal long rug. This wool pile rug is woven in deep tones of red, blue, yellow, and brown, with ivory accents throughout. It is centered with two large scale geometric medallions with stepped edges. The elongated field is populated with two pairs of diminutive medallions at each short end. Framing the field are compound running dog and running water guard borders, while the primary border features a stylized running water pattern over red. The rug is finished with overcast selvedges and wool warp fringe. It is unlabeled.
