Hand-Knotted Indo-Caucasian Kazak Wool Rug
Item Details
A vintage hand-knotted Indo-Caucasian Kazak area rug. This wool pile rug is rendered in hues of rust, blue, and tan, with ivory accents throughout. It commences with a trio of polyagonal medallions, each infilled with geometric, hooked, and floral motifs and alternating in shape and color. The field is populated with complementary forms and delineated by a stepped triangular border, with ivory selvedges grounding the design. Framing the field are medahil and X guard borders, while the primary border displays a combed compartment medallion motif over rust. The rug is finished with overcast selvedges, kilim skirt, and wool warp fringe. It is unlabeled.
