Hand-Knotted Kashmir Wool Room Sized Rug

A vintage hand-knotted Kashmir room sized rug. This wool pile rug is rendered in tones of blue, green, orange, brown, blush, and ivory. It commences with a sixteen point medallion comprised of flower heads and palmettes. The deep blue field is densely populated with arabesqued vines, lancet and oak leaves, palmettes, and floral motifs, and grounded by layered corner spandrels. Framing the field are compound floral meander guard borders, while the primary border displays a samovar pattern over deep blue. The rug is finished with overcast selvedges and wool warp fringe. It is unlabeled.
