Hand-Knotted Persian Long Rug, Attributed to Hussainabad
Item Details
A vintage hand-knotted Persian wool long rug, probably Hussainabad. This wool pile rug is rendered in an abrashed palette of soft red, dark blue, khaki-gold, pink, brown, and ivory. The elongated field features an allover herati, or mahi, motif comprised of rosettes, vines, foliage, and palmettes arranged in a lattice. Framing the field are stylized floral meanders, while the primary border displays a rectilinear wave and ship design over deep blue. The rug is finished with overcast selvedges and wool warp fringe. It is unlabeled.
