A hand-knotted Persian Hamadan area rug. This wool pile rug is rendered in bright tones of red, blue, green, pink, khaki-gold, and ivory. It commences with a lobed medallion comprised of florals and flanked by palmette pendants. The lozenge field is delineated with sprays of flowers and purling vines, and grounded by layered spandrels infilled with complementary motifs. Framing the field are compound guard borders comprised of geometric chains, while the primary border features a stylized floral pattern over deep blue. The rug is finished with overcast selvedges and wool warp fringe. It is unlabeled.
