Hand-Knotted Persian Hamadan Wool Rug

A hand-knotted Persian Hamadan area rug. This wool pile rug is rendered in hues of pink, blue, green, brown, and ivory. It is centered with a large scale floral medallion flanked by palmette pendants. The lozenge field is populated with oak leaves, flower heads, vines, and foliage, and grounded by intriciate spandrels infilled with complementary motifs. Framing the field are dark brown guard borders comprised of floral meanders on purling vines, while the primary border features a leaf and blossom motif over ivory. The rug is finished with overcast selvedges and wool warp fringe. It is unlabeled.
