Hand-Knotted Persian Wool Rug

A hand-knotted Persian area rug. This wool pile rug is rendered in hues of red, blue, green, brown, and ivory. It commences with a winged medallion comprised of florals and flanked by palmette pendants. The lozenge field is densely populated with vines, foliages, palmettes, and flower heads, and grounded by ivory spandrels. Framing the field are floral meander guard borders, while the primary border displays a vining palmette motif over ivory. The rug is finished with overcast selvedges and wool warp fringe. It is unlabeled.
