Item Details
A vintage hand-knotted Persian Hamadan area rug. This wool pile rug is crisply rendered in hues of red, blue, orange, pink, tan, yellow, and ivory. It commences with a lobed medallion comprised of florals and flanked with palmette pendants. The lozenge field is densely populated with floral racemes, sprays, and bouquets with foliage and palmette fillers, and grounded by layered spandrels infilled with complementary motifs. Framing the field are carnation meander and reciprocal guard borders, while the primary border displays a palmette grounded pattern over deep blue. The rug is finished with overcast selvedges and wool warp fringe. It is unlabeled.
