Item Details
A Meiji period (1868-1912), mid to late 19th century Japanese cast bronze censer. The elegant censer stands on three elongated scrolled legs embellished with grotesque mask motifs. The lobed body features songbirds perched up on blooming plum branches rendered in dramatic relief. The handles are dynamically sculpted guardian lions. The underside bears a geometric mark.
