A collection of three vintage hand-woven raffia Kuba Shoowa cut-pile textiles from the Congo Basin, Africa. These intricately designed geometric cloths were woven by men and embroidered by women using a shearing technique to create a soft velvet texture. Kuba Shoowa cloth was used during funerals to convey status or traded as currency.

Condition

- fraying and dirt residue to cloths; some fibers are coming loose; some stains.
