An original vintage oil painting on canvas by very well-listed 20th century artist Camille Hilaire (France/Germany, 1916 – 2004). The painting depicts three jockeys and horses painted in a Cubist-Modernist style. The painting is signed in black to the lower right and is presented in a wooden frame with gold tone finish and a hanging wire.

Hilaire attended the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris and studied under André Lhote. After traveling and painting throughout the 1930s, Hilaire was drafted into the army, was taken prisoner, escaped, and secretly re-enrolled at Beaux-Arts. He was awarded the Prix de Venise and the Prix de la Casa de Velázquez, and begin exhibiting in prominent institutions in the 1950s.
