A hand-knotted Persian Qashqai wool rug. This rug is rendered in a palette of deep red, indigo, orange, cream, gray, and brown. The lozenge shaped field has a deep red ground over indigo, while featuring a pole with a central stepped diamond medallion ending in branched floral forms. A pair of horse head capped columns and tree of life motifs flank the medallion, while accompanied with an array of branched floral forms and a scatter of animal motifs throughout. The indigo grounded spandrels feature medallions similar to the central one, along with coordinating symbols. Framing the populated field is a stylized shishboluki border with added animal and floret motifs. Finishing this rug are overcast selvedges and a wool warp fringe to the ends. It is unlabeled.
