Item Details
A hand-knotted Persian Qashqai wool rug. This rug is rendered in an abrash palette of red, indigo, ivory, gray, orange, dark green, and brown. The red hued lozenge shaped field has a pictorial design of colorful birds, horse heads, and an abundance of floral motifs surrounding a central stepped diamond medallion. Enclosing the field are indigo grounded spandrels infilled with animal head medallions, coordinating filler motifs, and tree of life motifs along the edges. Framing the field is a main stepped diamond and calyx border with a ivory ground, as well as a Hamadan guard border. Finishing this rug are overcast selvedges and a wool warp fringe to the ends. It is unlabeled.
