A hand-knotted and embroidered Anatolian wool soumak rug. This rug has a cream colored chain-stitched ground with hand-knotted designs in hues of red, blue, golden tan, brown, black, and ivory. The field features a series of medallions each infilled with geometric symbols, and accompanied by stemmed pomegranates, and other branched elements. Framing the field is a main chained box and quatrefoil border, along with floral guard borders. Finishing this rug are overcast selvedges and a wool warp fringe with a kilim skirt to the ends. It is unlabeled.
